ONE hundred miles in four days is the task awaiting a Penketh woman who heads for Holland this week.

Stephanie Barron, aged 25, will be joining 50,000 others in the world's longest walking challenge, which starts on Tuesday.

The Abbey National employee has signed up for the challenge of a lifetime to raise money for breast cancer research.

She said: "I just think this is a good cause to support and it will be a really exciting event.

"But it will probably end up killing me!"

The event will see Stephanie, from Tannery Lane, power walk 25 miles a day for four days - almost the equivalent of a marathon each day.

She is taking part along with a group of 17 other walkers from across the UK who she has never before met.

And, while she has taken part in some training for the event, she still expects a tough challenge on the roads of Holland.

At least she can be sure there will not be too many hills along the way.

The group of walkers are all taking part with the health charity Walk the Walk Worldwide.

Established in 1996, the group arranges fundraising walks across the globe and has already raised more than £15 million for breast cancer research and cancer care.

Anyone wanting to sponsor or help Stephanie as she embarks on the gruelling challenge should e-mail the Guardian's news editor Gareth Dunning at gdunning@guardiangrp.co.uk and we will pass your number on.
