PUPILS took part in a mini beast hunt this week to launch a Cheshire based wildlife programme.

Members of Moore Primary School's Watch Club took part in the hunt at Moore Meadows on Monday.

The club is a branch of the Cheshire Wildlife Trust's Schools Watch programme, which is sponsored by Barclays.

It is held once a month by two members of the school staff, Lynne Ford and Liz Sibbald, who work alongside Jan Shone, education officer of the Cheshire Wildlife Trust and Watch leader.

The children take part in a wide range of on-site and off-site activities from pond dipping at Moore Nature Reserve to tree surveys at Moore Meadows.

Head teacher Jan MacDonald said: "It is lovely to see the children enjoying themselves and learning about their environment.

"The aim of the school is to promote a broad and balanced curriculum and the Watch Club enhances this."
