WARRINGTON Athletics Club runner Stephen Broadhurst produced his best race of the season in the junior boys' 800m race at the English Schools Championships in Birmingham on Saturday.

The 14-year-old, who has already won three Cheshire titles and finished second in the Northern 800m Championships this year, finished sixth in the final with a personal best time of 2mins 3.56secs after progressing through the heats and the semi finals.

Fellow Warrington athlete Kieran Richardson finished tenth in the senior boys' hammer final with a throw of 42.89m, while Chris Kirk was sixth in the heats of the junior boys' 400m with a time of 55.1secs.

Mat Jackson was 14th fastest in the junior boys' 1,500m, while Hannah Tart took sixth place in the heats of the junior girls' 800m.

Louise Woodward was part of the county team that won the intermediate girls' relay, as well as finishing sixth in the 80m hurdles heats.

Hayley Darbyshire was fifth in the junior girls' 100m heat in 12.8secs, before being a member of the county relay team that finished fourth.
