PETER Knowles struck 17 boundaries as Rylands won by four wickets at Newton Heath.

Knowles hit seven sixes and 10 fours in a spectacular innings of 95 as Rylands chased the home side's target of 188 for 8, set despite Sean Malone, Rob Wright and Kev Addison each taking two wickets.

Rylands's second team also romped to a four-wicket victory at home to Newton Heath's seconds, with Neil Page taking 5 for 39 as the visitors were dismissed for only 144 at Gorsey Lane.

Rylands then surpassed that total without too much trouble, with captain Geoff Shaw hitting an unbeaten 72.

The third team could not complete a perfect weekend for Rylands as they lost by 65 runs at home to Chorlton, who reached an imposing 218 for 2 in their innings.

Rylands were always struggling in reply, and although Shaw followed up his knock for the second team with 44 more runs, they were bowled out for 153.
