WARRINGTON hung on to a respectable draw against Macclesfield in the Cheshire County Cricket League on Saturday.

The visitors were restricted 214 in their innings with N Thompson taking 3 for 71, and Warrington looked in good shape when M Agar hit 43 and J Hughes amassed 38 in reply.

But a middle-order collapse left Warrington 30 runs short as they battled to secure a draw, eventually finishing on 184 for 8.

Warrington's seconds never recovered from a poor start at Brooklands as they fell to a 76-run defeat.

The home side were eventually pegged back to 236, with T Balmer taking 7 for 70 and B Kapour grabbing 3 for 73, but Warrington struggled to chase the target and although S Quick struck 46 they were bowled out for 160.

The third team got back to winning ways as they secured a six-wicket win at home to second-placed Brooklands. Despite nine dropped catches, the visitors were reduced to 151 for 9, with David Hunter collecting 5 for 58 and Mans Naseem taking 4 for 46.

Derek Bate and Adam Bray then finished unbeaten on 62 and 49 respectively to lead Warrington home.

Warrington's fourth XI were beaten by Upton's fourths for the second week running after Upton accumulated 199 for 4 in their innings. Warrington lost early wickets in reply and were dismissed for 97 as they fell to a 102-run defeat, with T Corroboy carrying his bat with 39 not out.
