for Appleton

APPLETON went down to a two-wicket defeat against Disley in Cheshire Cricket Alliance Division Two on Saturday.

Appleton made a good start to their innings and were 55 without loss at one stage, but after the departure of A Hurst for 41 wickets fell regularly and they stumbled to 111 for 9.

Victory still looked achievable when Disley were reduced to 29 for 5 in reply, but Appleton's opponents clawed their way back into the game and reached the target for the loss of eight wickets.

Appleton's second team had better luck though as they thrashed their Disley counterparts by seven wickets on the same day.

Disley were skittled out for 79, with C Tomlinson and M Arnold both taking three wickets, before H Patel hit 37 and A Tyrer struck an unbeaten 36 as Appleton cruised home.
