CLASSIC car collectors are being invited to show off their pride and joys at major transport rallies over the next two months.

Up to 700 vintage vehicles and machines are expected at Congleton Cattle Market and Biddulph Grange Country Park for trips down transport's memory lane.

Both annual transport celebrations are being staged by Macclesfield Vintage Machinery Group, and attract hundreds of families every year.

Between 300 and 400 entries are expected at the cattle market for the Congleton Yesteryear Rally on October 13, while 150 exhibits are already signed up for the vintage machinery and transport rally at Biddulph's country park on September 13.

Vintage group chairman Percy Gallimore invited vintage machinery and car owners to enter their prized pieces of transport history at the rallies.

"This year will be our fifth at Biddulph and 19th at Congleton, and the vintage machines are among the most popular attractions, because people like to see them working," said Mr Gallimore. "Members of the South Staffordshire Car Club are entering the Biddulph rally, and some of the classic cars due to feature at the country park date from the 1930s.

"People like to see old cars and vehicles they remember from years gone by.''
