MOVES by Army cadets to link up with Congleton ATC would see many air cadets leaving the group, ATC chairman Douglas Parker warned this week.

Congleton Army Cadet Force is currently based at the Territorial Army centre at Congleton Leisure Centre.

But the cadets are looking to up sticks and move to the Rope Walk HQ of Congleton Air Training Corps, where work is set to begin on creating a £60,000 extension.

Mr Parker said that the outdoor area at the ATC HQ is used for many activities, and creating a new home for the Army cadets would mean the loss of those activities.

"The squadron would lose cadets who regularly attend because of the wide range of activities they enjoy, and a new building for the ACF at Rope Walk would render the whole compound useless for outdoor activities,'' he said.

"It will totally demoralise and demotivate the ATC staff and cadets.''
