POLICE have launched a manhunt after a naked sex fiend terrorised two girls in a Warrington park.

The man who chased the teenagers through Birchwood Forest Park, may have struck twice before.

Now officers are urging women NOT to go out alone and have warned: "This man is dangerous."

The girls were walking home through the park after missing their bus on Monday night. As they approached a skateboarding area the attacker pounced.

Both girls, who live in the Gorse Covert area, were too scared to be named, but one, a 16-year-old former Priestley College student, said: "He jumped out of the bushes and ran towards us.

"We just started to scream and shouted at him to leave us alone and go away. It was awful - I thought I was going to die."

The girls flagged down a passing motorist in Ordnance Avenue, to escape.

The latest attack comes after a string of similar incidents.

In April, Chelsey Murdoch fought off a attempted rapist as she walked along a path near Birchwood High School.

Weeks later an 11-year-old schoolgirl was subjected to a vicious sex attack at Oakwood Gate Park.

Inspector John Smith urged anybody walking through parkland at night to keep to well lit areas.

Psychologist Professor Cary Cooper, said the man was "dangerous and erratic ".

"If the attacks are the work of one man then we are dealing with a man who leads a repressed lifestyle and is very unstable", he said. "People should be wary of him."

The man is described as white, 5ft 10ins, in his late 30s, with a bobbed haircut and a long face.

Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact them on 652222.
