Worksop Town 2

Warrington Town 0

By COLIN SERJENT

WARRINGTON'S outstanding run of results against Worksop, six consecutive victories since 1993, came to an end on Saturday.

It also brought a halt to their mini revival of form away from home, having previously remained unbeaten on their last four travels.

This was the 10th occasion Warrington have failed to score this season.

Peter Oldbury shot weakly at Darren Bonnington from the edge of the box with only the goalkeeper to beat, before recent signing Paul Hession, left unmarked soon after the break, saw a header chested off the line by Darren Dye.

Paul Kirkham was also twice thwarted by Bonnington, who's opposite number Graham Bennett was in equally impressive form. He palmed over a 25-yard effort by Darren Brookes and soon after bravely blocked a fierce close range drive by Terry Harris.

But Bennett was powerless midway through the second half when Danny Campbell lofted a cross to Linden Whitehead who applied the finishing touch. Warrington fell further behind 12 minutes later following a memorable goal by Mick Smith.

Town: Bennett 7, Boden 6, Loughlin 6, Sang 6, Davis 6, G. Sutcliffe 7, Henshaw 6, Kirkham 5, Hession 5, Oldbury 5, Gardner 5, (Simpson: 69 minutes). Subs not used: Mallinson, K. Sutcliffe.

Warrington play at Congleton tonight, Tuesday.
