LOTTERY cash could help to transform a school field into Orford's 'jewel in the crown'.

Warrington Borough Council is aiming to secure £100,000 of lottery money to fund an ambitious project at the former English Martyrs School playing field. The council wants to provide a range of new community facilities, and has agreed a £13,000 funding package to get its plans off the ground.

Residents, voluntary and uniform groups and local sports teams will all be asked for their views. But early indications point to the community favouring a mixed-use development, including play areas, sports facilities and a Mersey Forest area.
