ALAN Pinnington landed, on pole, the biggest known fish in Whitley Pool.

Following a mammoth struggle, Alan landed the common which promptly bottomed out his 25lb scales.

He therefore had to resort to using his significant knowledge and experience to assess the weight of the fish at 32lb.

Also on Whitley Pool, Lymm Angling Club chairman Lew Poulson settled down fishing on waggler and commenced to catch well over 100 fish.

His haul was made up mostly of roach and rudd, with the occasional tench and crucian making an appearance. He then repeated this performance the following day, on a different peg.

Netting captain Mark Clowes gave Willow Pool a go and was rewarded by a steady flow of roach and perch. This pool will receive a further injection of fish in due course.

The new bay on Belmont Pool has become popular feeding ground for the resident carp.

Derek Ormrod reported being totally mesmerised by the amount of fish activity taking place in this new corner of the pool.

Later in the week, Derek spent an afternoon on the River Severn at Rossall Grange and reported catching four barbel to 9.5lb. Other members fishing were also enjoying the action provided by barbel.

Our bailiff on the River Severn at Atcham has reported increasing numbers of barbel caught since the levels began dropping last week.

He has also reported good catches of roach, chub, dace and pike.

Anglers landing salmon on the day ticket stretch must return them immediately.

Bailiff, Ste Gregory, took his young son to Mossbank Pool last Saturday, where he set to work putting his father to shame. Amongst his significant catch was a 2.5lb golden orfe.

Members looking for somewhere to take a youngster for a confidence booster should look no further than Oak Pool on Belmont Estate.

Use any small bait for an unending of roach, rudd, perch and crucians. This little pool is ideal for the novice and of course, myself.

Lymm Dam continues to improve with good catches made on most pegs. Night anglers are catching bream to 8lb on all baits, including boilies.

Our junior section has organised the Lymmvale 'Overnighter' and this is set for next Saturday night. All junior members are welcome, as are their parents, whether or not they are members. A barbecue will take place with food for all.

The object of this event is to give juniors an insight into night fishing. Any member wishing to assist with this event can do so by turning up tomorrow evening, Saturday.
