IT just gets better and better for outstanding Warrington athlete Ben Stringer.

The 17-year-old, who is already enjoying a glittering career, picked up three gold medals at the Disability Sport England Junior UK Championships in Blackpool.

The Warrington Athletics Club ace triumphed in the under 17 discus in 24.34m, and set British records in the u17 shot putt, 8.30m, and u17 javelin, 17.44m.

It was the third year in succession he had won all three titles.

In two weeks, Stringer will make his Great Britain debut in the World Games at Stoke Mandeville. He hopes to compete in all three of his events.

"I am thrilled with my performances. This is the ideal form for me to take into the World Games," says Stringer, from Great Sankey.

"It will be a new experience for me. I am just hoping to learn from it and set some personal bests."

And there was success for another Warrington teenager at the weekend's UK Championships in 13-year-old Jonathan den Uil.

The Great Sankey High School pupil warmed up for his debut in the World Dwarf Athletics Games later this month with a double gold medal success.

He won both the 100m and 200m in his category which included sprinters up to the age 16.

The top all-rounder will try his hand against dwarfs from the USA, Australia and Europe in the forthcoming games, which are being staged in Peterborough.
