A STOCKTON Heath man has broken into song to raise money in memory of his sister-in-law who died unexpectedly last year from a heart condition.

Mark Brandreth, aged 31, of Ellesmere Road, donated £1,226 to the British Heart Foundation after Sally Boyle, who lived in Grappenhall, passed away, aged 32.

Clean Cut, a three-part male vocal ensemble, of which Mr Brandreth is a member, performed two sell-out shows at Altrincham Club Theatre and held raffles and auctions with prizes donated by Granada Television, Sally's former employers.

Mr Brandreth said: "Sally was only in her early thirties when we lost her last January. Together with her family, she was always a supporter of the British Heart Foundation's work. We all miss her, but I am sure she would have appreciated it.

"Granada were really generous - we had a signed Manchester United shirt and a dress from Coronation Street which together went for almost £250."

The concerts featured songs from the West End, a Frank Sinatra medley and concluded with an unaccompanied rendition of Silent Night.

Area organiser for the British Heart Foundation Shirley McNally said: "It's great of Clean Cut to help us out. They have made a tremendous effort to raise such a huge amount of money and we are very grateful. The donation will be given in memory of Sally and used to continue to develop our work."
