AGE Concern St Helens is launching a special campaign to help older people put pounds back in their pockets.

The scheme, 'Your Rights 2003' aims to help pensioners claim more cash by encouraging them to claim their benefit entitlements, especially with increases in social security benefits coming into force on Monday, April 7.

The charity says that as well as pensioners, other people aged 50-plus and carers could increase their income considerably if they claimed the benefits they are entitled to.

The campaign is supported by St Helens Carers Service and the local pension Service and runs from April 4 to 11.

Information and Advice drop-in sessions will be held as follows:

Tuesday and Wednesday, April 8 and 9 from 10am to 3pm at the Prince Royal Trust for Carers, St Helens Carers Centre, Millennium House, Bicherstaffe Street.

Thursday, April 10 from 10am to 4pm, venue to be confirmed.

You will need to take along details of your income and savings; or if caring for someone details of their income and savings. Appointments can be made by contacting Age Concern St Helens on 01744 752644.
