THE parents of tragic Alan Davies have paid an emotional tribute to their son after he died following a late night assault.

The 21-year-old from Fulbeck in Hough Green suffered serious head injuries outside Club Essential in the early hours of last Monday morning, and later died in hospital.

His parents, Sid and Denise said: "We are deeply shocked and upset, his brother and sister are devastated. Alan was such a happy person who had such a zest for life, he loved music and dancing and never had any problems with anyone. This is such a waste of a young life. He loved life so much."

After Alan was injured, four friends tried to drive him to hospital but they crashed into a wall on Dundalk Road. He was freed by firefighters but died two days later.

Det Insp Dougie Shaw, said: "This incident did not take place in a house, this was in public with a very large number of people present.
