I WOULD like to echo the sentiments of Sandra Fox, Runcorn.
All too often councillors/officers of Halton Council have grand ideas on how to improve services, but it will cost us.
Will we see 19.8 per cent more police on our streets or a 16.4 per cent increase in the level of our service?
I think I've seen two policemen on the streets since January, what is 19.8 per cent of two? Or perhaps they may be 19.8 per cent quicker responding to calls?
Norton High School (Site B) has closed. What a marvellous saving. Maybe we'll see a reduction in our council tax.
Then they closed Norton Recreation Centre, another fantastic saving. Brookvale needed an artificial playing surface before Norton closed.
Then they get a bombshell; the Labour Government has reduced the money the council gets. You can just see it, how are we going to make up this short fall?
Then someone pipes up: 'let's raise the council tax, we can't reduce our services further'.
What will be next to go, maybe the Halton Show? No, they'll let Brookvale go to a private contractor, saving more money.
Let these councillors (you only ever see during election times) know your opinion and vote.
If you don't like it then have your say. If you don't vote, you can't whinge when you don't like what you get.
Well done Sandra, let's hope other people echo your sentiments.
