I RETURNED from Florida on Monday and to my surprise my phone didn't stop ringing with people calling me to tell me how much they agreed with my letter printed in the World.

Thanks to all of you in return, it's good to know I'm not alone.

That very same afternoon I had a visit from Mr S Nelson who introduced himself as one of those 'elusive men in suits, who represent the council' that I referred to.

Mr Nelson proceeded to educate me about Runcorn.

Did you know that there is no 'Old Runcorn' and 'New Town'?

In fact, there is only 'Runcorn' and that it's people like me who try to divide the town.

If you travel over the Runcorn/Widnes Bridge you will see many signs directing you to the 'Old Town', Mr Nelson!

Pettiness apart, at the end of an hour long debate I was asked what I would most like to see in Runcorn Old Town that was not monetarily out of the question.

I suggested something for the young Runcornians - an Internet caf, something that would open at 10am and close at 8pm when the town gets rowdy, and yes it does.

An Internet caf is a caf, which supplies crisps, pop, burgers and has some games machines, computer games, music playing and access to computers.

Kids can buy coffee in there and books and buy CDs and tapes also.

It's somewhere they can hang out other than round the Asda car park or wandering round Halton Lea.

That was my suggestion to Mr Nelson and he took that away with him to be discussed.

I appreciate the fact that he came to talk and he did some listening and I hope that goes ahead. Thanks again for being behind me.
