A THUMPING try-saving tackle by full back Graham Appo 78 minutes into Saturday's clash with London Broncos summed up the team's desire to win and willingness to work.

The game was already in the bag when London's former St. Helens wingman Steve Hall darted down the right wing with ears pinned back and heading for the corner flag.

Australian Appo angled his run to cut down Hall's pace and almost sliced the winger in half with a perfect mid-body hit with his shoulder. Even better, the impact bundled Hall into touch.

Moments later Appo was rewarded. After winning the resultant scrum, prop Nick Fozzard got his arms over the top of Russell Bawden's challenge and slipped a peach of a pass to Appo to give him a clear 45 metres run to the line for a superb touch down.

Afterwards, head coach Paul Cullen said: "Graham is one of the game's finishers but I thought defensively against London he was always in the right position and on the two or three occasions that London broke our line he stepped up with try-saving tackles.

"For a player of the offensive quality of Graham to throw in a defensive performance of that ilk augurs well for our future."
