takes

to the streets

PEACEFUL protests against a war with Iraq have been continuing in Frodsham with a peace vigil last week.

People braved the cold for two hours and took to Main Street with banners on Thursday night, for the vigil organised by the Frodsham Stop The War Group.

And organisers were manning a stall earlier that day at Frodsham market with a petition for people to register their protest at the action the Government is taking against Iraq.

The petitions will be sent to the Prime Minister Tony Blair and Mike Hall, MP for Weaver Vale.

Organisers manning the stalls where touched by people telling them about their friends or family who are either based with the British troops or living in Iraq or neighbouring countries and how concerned they are.

The group also staged a vigil in the town in February and were joined by about 100 residents.

Pam Hall, one of the organisers said: "We are a group of like minded friends who are just very concerned at the way things are going and want a peaceful solution

"All of us feel that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant but it is the war that we are protesting about."
