THE Thundersprint motorbike festival looks like providing motorcycle enthusiasts with a real treat - as celebrities and world champions sign up to take part in the Northwich event.

Claudio Castiglioni, the president of Meccancia Verghera Agusta (MV Agusta), is the latest to add his name to the list of riders entering the Master Class.

He will line up alongside six times World Champion and TT winner Jim Redman, seven times Spanish champion 'Pepino' San Millan and world champion Bill Smith, at the start of the event on May 11.

Thundersprint is a free event aimed at the whole family. It will take place around the Barons Key area of Northwich and will feature street theatre, a children's play area and trades stalls.

Mr Castiglioni said: "The reason that MV Agusta is supporting the Thundersprint is that the event captures the spirit and soul of motorcycling. I am really looking forward to competing - but only to enjoy the atmosphere as a tourist racer."

Thundersprint organiser Frank Melling is delighted that Mr Castiglioni is racing.

He said: "I know from personal experience that there is no-one in the world more passionate than Claudio about motorcycles and racing.

"Claudio will be competing in the Master Class along with other world famous riders and celebrities. Claudio rides very well and I feel sure that he will have a wonderful time soaking up the nostalgia which is the hallmark of the Thundersprint."

However, organisers are appealing for more female entrants to enter the women's event.

Anyone wanting to enter or for get more information about the event should contact Frank on 01928 740 498 or visit www.thundersprint.com for more information.
