THE political make-up of the Eddisbury, Weaver Vale and Tatton constituencies will completely change if proposed boundary alterations are implemented.

The Boundary Commission for England has published provisional recommendations for changes to 10 of the 11 existing Parliamentary constituencies in Cheshire, Halton and Warrington.

Some of the existing wards in Vale Royal are staying in the same constituency but the whole of the divided wards of Hartford & Whitegate and Leftwich & Kingsmead, presently in Eddisbury would be moved to Weaver Vale and the whole of the divided Rudheath & South Witton ward would be moved to Tatton.

The commission is also proposing to include the whole of the divided City of Chester wards of Barrow, Tattenhall and Waverton and the whole of the divided Crewe and Nantwich borough wards of Acton and Audlem in Eddisbury.

Apart from Winsford, Eddisbury is essentially a rural area but these moves could change the political complexion of the constituency.

Proposed changes have come about as a result of a review which the commission is obliged to carry out every eight to 12 years. It has attempted to balance the numbers eligible to vote in each of the constituencies, taking Cheshire and Halton as a whole. Warrington has been treated as a separate case.

Clr Arthur Wood, borough councillor and Davenham Parish Council chairman, said: "I'd like to find out the reason for these changes. When are we going to be settled with these changes? It seems like every two years this is happening.

"At the present time there could be a regional government. Let's get one thing sorted at a time."

Representations regarding the proposed changes should be addressed to the Boundary Commission for England, PO Box 31060, London, SW1 2FF or faxed to 020 7533 5176 before April 27.
