THANK you for printing an article about Amy Clowes last week.
However, I was sorry to see no mention of Amy's work for the United Nations Association.
For about 40 years she was the mainstay of the Knutsford branch, which used to be flourishing.
Amy gathered speakers for our meetings - some of them very high-powered (I well remember a lady from the USSR embassy) - arranging venues, and generally holding the branch together.
She would have been saddened, when the United Nations organisation is needed more than ever, to see it over-ridden and derided in some quarters.
Amy was a true Knutsfordian and a member of many organisations in the town.
Until a few weeks before her death she was asking for lifts to the Civic Society meetings.
She never failed to send a letter of thanks to the Guardian after a concert or outing run for senior citizens.
She was also a long-serving magistrate.
