And he is likely to be drafted straight into the Blues squad for their trip to Eccelshall tonight, Wednesday.
Winsford manager Dave Twite said: "Rob played for me when I was manager at Middlewich and he's got a lot of experience which will help us at the moment as we are short of players at the back.
"I wanted to sign him at the start of the season, but he said he wanted one more season with Middlewich."
Cochran's signing has solved a major problem for Twite, who was without a recognised centre back for last weekend's tie at Great Harwood Town and had to play Mark Quinn out of position.
