WIDNES U12s won the Huddersfield festival playing some excellent rugby along the way.
In the opening rounds both Rochdale and then Huddersfield were defeated 28-0 with scores for Daryl Bold (3t), Chris Schofield (2t) and tries for George Lang, Evans, Simons and a fantastic full length of the field kick return from Lewis Jones.
Leeds were the next opponents and gave an excellent display before losing 14-0 with good forward tries from Connor Brown and again Daryl Bold.
In the final game, Widnes only needed a draw against a very well organised and fired up Preston Grasshoppers. Preston Grasshoppers took the game to the Wids and dominated the first half and eventually opened the scoring to lead 7-0.
However, a better second half performance from Widnes resulted in Daryl Bold crashing over from a quickly taken penalty by scrum half Dan Oliver.
Chris Schofield was then left with a pressure kick to convert the try to win the festival. The final score was 7-7. Widnes won on total tries scored on the day.
