Mum tells of day her disabled daughter told her she had been abused for 14 years

Anne Greig told the Guardian how her ‘whole life fell into a black hole’ when her daughter with Down's Syndrome first told her she had been raped by a paedophile ring.

It was in 2000 when Hollie Greig, now 30, confided the alleged abuse to Anne. She told her mum that she had been been attacked regularly since 1986.

Hollie had not told Anne because her gang of attackers allegedly told her that they would kill her pet dog and mum if she recounted the violations.

When the abuse started at six, Hollie, because of her Down’s Syndrome, did not have the speech skills to tell her mum.

Anne, who now lives in Shropshire, said: “To hear your little girl who is partially deaf, was born with heart problems and developed sclerosis of the spine at 12, got through all of that but was being abused since the age of six - my whole life fell into a black hole.”

Anne immediately went to the police on 19 May 2000 and by August Hollie had named 16 abusers and two other victims, allegedly children of one of the paedophiles aged two and three. After getting a psychiatrist to confirm that Hollie was a reliable witness Anne returned to the police, but they only ever interviewed two suspects.

In September, to her ‘horror’, Anne was sectioned and accused of being schizophrenic. She believes this was an attempt to discredit her as a mother.

“To my horror I woke up in a mental hospital with doctors taking blood out of my arm - the worst thing was with me in there Hollie could end up back with her attackers.”

Anne was released from hospital and was certified mentally stable by Dr Ellen Smith who said there was ‘absolutely nothing wrong’ with her, according to Anne. Her solicitor Yvonne McKenna wrote to the Mental Welfare Commission and was told there was no record of Anne’s sectioning. She is convinced there is a conspiracy to prevent her getting Hollie’s case heard and even said that her brother, Robert Greig, was murdered in 1997 after walking in on Hollie being abused. His death was recorded as suicide via smoke inhallation but an autopsy report recently secured by Anne apparently shows that Robert suffered a broken back and fractured skull just before he died.

Anne has now been left fighting for justice against what she perceives as a ‘huge cover up’.

“It’s diabolical, a disgrace, the whole system is corrupt - no solicitor will take the case as there has been a huge cover up.

“These were people I thought of as friends and abuse was going on behind my back.

“Hollie watches cartoons where the baddies get caught and she can’t understand why, after telling the truth, nothing is happening.”

It's about time somebody looked into this case and something is done about it.

Every MP in the UK has been informed about the case but none of them have have done anything about it. It's a disgrace.

There are thousands of people who have learnt of Hollie's story since Robert Green's arrest a few weeks ago (for saying he was going to hand out leaflets on a street in Aberdeen - the arrest warrant was issued by the sheriff who is one of those named by Hollie).

This number is growing fast daily as people learn about the extraordinary coverup regarding this case and total media blackout by mainstream media.

ALL MPs have been contacted and ALL national newspapers and none has the courage to tackle this story due to it's full implications.

Please search out the page on facebook to help the campaign to get justice for Hollie - there are many things you can do as a human - don't let ignoring her plight be one of them.

She and her mother Ann are two of the most courageous people around and have fought this battle far too long on their own. Show them your support by spreading this story as far and as wide as you can - only then can we bring the high-ranking paedophiles involved to justice.

Please people do everything you can to help Hollie and other children like her. Write to your MP's MEP's and ask the mainstream media outlests why they are refusing to speak out!

I think the police and social services should get thier fingers out and start doing thier jobs properly to prevent children going through abuse like this and neglect. What do they get paid for? Its definately not for protecting children from abuse and neglect.

Thank you for having the guts to publish this story, I am at a complete loss as to why the mainstream media are not all over it considering there is no D Notice served. This girl deserves justice and every MP in the UK knows what is going on. They should hang their heads in shame the way they have passed the buck consistently. I hope they are all quaking in their boots now that the public have become enlightened with regards to what is REALLY happening in this country.

Thankyou Cheshire, you have rekindled my faith in human nature. Hollie's story is being seen and heard throughout the world, this is a global issue, the facebook group is full of information about child abuse and missing children that has been covered up, in Australia, Canada, usa, South America, Germany, Sweden, Africa (the missionary orphanages).....the list goes on, .....all eyes are on on the power's that are manipulating and controling this situation.
It would appear that Hollie's story is just the tip of the iceberg. Can I suggest that you find a copy of "An Open Letter From Sinead O'Connor Regarding the Crimes and Coverup of the Catholic Church".

Thanks Cheshire for covering this story, none of the major papers or tv companies will touch it, they are quite happy to see these sorts of things going on and the judiciary and politicians in Scotland just want to continue to sweep this under the carpet in the hope that it'll go away....but it won't!! Anyone reading Hollie and Anns story could help them by e mailing their own MP's and MEP's. This has to be investigated!!

After emailing over 60 emails to our lords/baronesses in our House of Lords and receiving no replies except 1 {one} from a baroness it is great news that Hollies case has been exposed by this newspaper. I also sent scores of other emails regularly to major newspapers, tv cos, and so-called "notables" who all ignored her case. Just reflecting on a discussion I had with my MSP Malcolm Chisholm the other day, regarding this. When I pointed out the fact that the "suicide" of Robert Greig was, in fact, more likely a murder due to the autopsy report and circumstances; Chisholm's response was “Even that could be connected with Hollie’s father what the evidence of the wider paedophile ring”?
Now, on the face of it, that seems a logical and innocuous comment. However, his comment brings into focus that, at the very least then, Hollie's father should be questioned in regards to a murder enquiry yet he and his son were allowed to flee Scotland and live in Portugal. The autopsy DEMANDS an investigation of the death of Hollie's Uncle BUT THE GOVERNMENT, JUDICIARY and POLICE will NOT DO IT! Chisholm's idea here may have been to deflect focus from the paedophile ring potentially including officials within government but, by doing so and suggesting the murder COULD be connected to Hollie's father, he opens up what should be a full investigation on THAT matter. The more they talk, the more questions they raise huh? ;-)

Glad you are covering the Hollie Greig story, but why have you omitted the most important details of Hollie's story... That amongst her accused are a Senior Police Officer and a leading Scottish Sheriff.

You have only told half a story to your readers, and not explained the depth of WHY Anne Greig believes that there is a massive cover up and that her daughter's abuse has not been investigated properly.... which puts the fact that Anne was sectioned, despite her perfect mental health, into a much more frightening light of how people in power are happy to continue to abuse the rights of those who have already suffered, in order to avoid punishment- by any lengths necessary.

You've also omitted that Hollie was paid a sum of approx £13,000, which further incriminates their guilt.

Please, don't give us half truths- Hollie has been waiting for people to tell the whole truth for long enough.
