Tory councillors' stinging attack on Warrington North MP

3:30pm Friday 19th March 2010

TWO of the town’s top Tory councillors launched a stinging attack on those who only ‘look for the negative and ignore the positive’.

Speaking at Monday night’s meeting of the executive board, deputy leader Clr Keith Bland and education member Clr Sheila Woodyatt took the opportunity to attack MP Helen Jones and other critics.

Clr Bland said he was ‘fed up to the back teeth’ of hearing criticism of the joint Liberal Democrat/ Conservative rule.

He said the group had been responsible for many improvements in the town – including Orford Park.

He added: “After 10 years of dreaming we put it together after only three years.”

And Clr Woodyatt said she was ‘sick to death’ of being attacked.

She added: “All we get from our MP is the Government gives the money (for projects such as school funding).

“The Government doesn’t give money – it provides the opportunity to bid for money. We do not do that on the back of a fag packet. It is important people realise this and to say it is all the Government is quite wrong.”
