Get your car washed in Warrington for firefighters' charity

FIRE cadets will be out with their buckets and sponges today, Saturday, to help raise money for the Firefighters nCharity.

Residents across Warrington are being urged to take their cars to the nearest fire station rather than the car wash to support the cause which provides assistance to serving and retired firefighters.

Staff will also provide drivers with important road safety advice.

Mark Cashin, charity chairman and deputy chief fire officer, said: “Unfortunately our firefighters see first hand the tragic consequences of road traffic collisions and I really hope that drivers will go along to their fire station and support this event as they will not only be helping our staff and the Firefighters’ Charity but they will also take away vital road safety advice which could save their lives.”

The charity car wash take place between 10am and 4pm at Warrington and Birchwood Fire Station and 11am and 3pm at Stockton Heath Fire Station.

Sadly Birchwood Fire Station will no longer have cadets this time next year if we cannot overturn Cheshire Fire Authoritiy's decision to reduce cover at the station, a move which Mark Cashin fully supports and has argued the case for.

Rather than giving "vital road safety advice which could save their lives", why not admit that the people of Warrington have shown that this essentail public service should remain wholetime and this WILL save lives?
