Stars come out for town's 'Oscars'

A ‘VOLUNTEER Oscars’ ceremony wowed crowds in Warrington.

People aged 16-25 were recognised for their outstanding contribution to the community on Thursday when the event takes place at the Village hotel.

The event was organised by Youth Volunteering Warrington and its youth action team.

The youth action team applied for funding to host the event, which included a red carpet, celebrity look-a-likes and a three-course meal.

There were eight categories, including youth leadership and personal achievement, and all volunteers will get a certificate and a chocolate Oscar.

Alison Cullen, youth volunteering manager, said: “This event gives local charities the chance to thank their young volunteers for the real difference they make in Warrington.”
