THREE bosses at 5 Boroughs Partnership Foundation Trust have been named among the most important NHS leaders in the country by the Department of Health.

Simon Barber, chief executive, Ray Walker, director of nursing governance and performance, and Therese Patten, commercial director, were included in the list of 1,000 senior managers considered to have the most “business critical” roles in the NHS.

They will participate in a Top Leaders Programme, devised by the National Leadership Council, which nurtures existing talent.

Bernard Pilkington, chairman, said: “Taking into account that this is a national initiative, it would be great news if one senior manager from the trust had been identified to receive supported career development.

“To have three is a real honour. As ever, our focus remains on the quality of service we deliver. Our hope is that the Top Leaders Programme will assist us in maintaining our excellent standards, as recognised by the Healthcare Commission in 2008 and 2009.”
