Three Warrington health bosses named among most important NHS leaders

THREE bosses at 5 Boroughs Partnership Foundation Trust have been named among the most important NHS leaders in the country by the Department of Health.

Simon Barber, chief executive, Ray Walker, director of nursing governance and performance, and Therese Patten, commercial director, were included in the list of 1,000 senior managers considered to have the most “business critical” roles in the NHS.

They will participate in a Top Leaders Programme, devised by the National Leadership Council, which nurtures existing talent.

Bernard Pilkington, chairman, said: “Taking into account that this is a national initiative, it would be great news if one senior manager from the trust had been identified to receive supported career development.

“To have three is a real honour. As ever, our focus remains on the quality of service we deliver. Our hope is that the Top Leaders Programme will assist us in maintaining our excellent standards, as recognised by the Healthcare Commission in 2008 and 2009.”

Not exactly true this really is it!

If you look at the list in full on the DoH website you will see its all the chief execs, then either director of finance/nursing/comm
ercial etc of each PCT and hospital trust in England!

This is highlighted by the big section listed as 'vacancy' where a nominated name should be and the trusts have already been highlighted......so how can it be a list of 'top 100 NHS leaders' if there is no one in those seven positions???

On this dept of Health website it even states these people are on this pathway because they have been "nominated by the nature of the role they currently occupy" i.e. if you sit in a certain job you automatically become a part of this process and task group!

Maybe if they are so wonderful, then they could share their expertise with others in the NHS locally and greatly improve the current & future services for patients????

Or is it another 'Critical Payrise' initiative that is heading our way???
