CREAMFIELDS has made history by being the first dance festival to receive an extended licence The two-day dance festival which takes place over August Bank Holiday weekend has been approved to hold the event in Daresbury for the next three years.

Halton Borough Council’s regulatory committee approved the application last Tuesday. Rejection letters from campaigners fell from 148 in 2009 to 28 this year.

Last year’s sell-out event saw 60,000 revellers flock to the site to enjoy music from a range of artists including Dizzee Rascal, David Guetta and Calvin Harris.

CI Events Ltd, the team behind the festival, has increased investment into site infrastructure for 2010, which will see bigger arenas and campsites.

Jim King, event manager from Loudsound, said: “This decision to grant the festival a three-year licence is a very important decision as it shows the confidence that the authorities have in Creamfields and its management team. The festival has now established itself at its new location in Cheshire as one of the largest, most popular and well operated electronic festivals in the world.”

The festival will return to Lord Daresbury’s estate for the fifth consecutive year after relocating in the summer of 2006.
