A marathos mission for a high flyer

THE sky is the limit for a cabin crew manager who will run the London Marathon with team mate Sir Richard Branson.

Nadine Davies, of London Road, Stretton, is just one of 100 people who have been selected to run for Mission:Possible – a cause launched for Virgin staff across the UK to raise £2.5 million to create opportunities for young people.

Nadine, with the help of firefighter husband Graham, filled in the application for a place on the Virgin marathon team and in August learnt that she had secured a place in the marathon on April 25.

She said: “There were only four places for cabin crew staff but on the application I said I wanted to teach my children good morals and values.

“We will be raising money for the Indian Village campaign to build a school and a hospital. Richard Branson has been out there and wants the village to be self sufficient.

“The children in the rural village are working 14 hour days. I want to make my children aware of what goes on in the world.”

The 40-year-old, who works on long-haul flights from Manchester to Florida and Barbados for Virgin Atlantic, completed a half marathon in Chester two years ago but said the London Marathon was something she always wanted to ‘tick off’.

Nadine, who has a step daughter and two children, has been training since August and has run 22 miles so far.

The star-studded team will include Mr Branson, Princess Eugenie and singer Natalie Imbruglia.

Nadine joked that she will have to do her do her make-up before the race for the cameras because the team will be setting off first.

She said she wants to raise £1,500 and complete the distance in four-and-a-half hours.

Any businesses who would like to sponsor Nadine’s running top or help raise money for the cause should call Graham on 07919 207703 or visit virginunite.com
