A COMPANY in Warrington is heralding the use of apprentices in work.
Bents Garden Centre, in Glazebury, says they provide a valuable boost for the business.
It comes in the wake of research commissioned by the National Apprenticeship Service shows that 84 per cent of people are more likely to use a business if it offers spprenticeships to young people.
In response to this, the National Apprenticeship Service has developed an employers’ ‘badge’ which allows firms to highlight their support of apprenticeships.
The badge can be downloaded from the Apprenticeship website and supportive employers can promote their commitment to workforce development by displaying the badge on their company website, literature or stationery.
Nicky Martin, regional marketing and communications manager at the National Apprenticeship Service said: “I am pleased we’re now able to recognise apprentice employers in this way and am urging Warrington’s businesses not to miss out on this opportunity.”
The Fresh Approach restaurant at Bents Garden Centre, Glazebury, has employed apprentices for the last five years.
Head chef Steve Bullough added: “Each of our apprentices has bought a new dimension to the restaurant as the Apprenticeship training stimulates their imagination.
“ Out of the eight apprentices we have employed so far, three have gone on to take more senior roles internally.”
