New mental health care unit to open

A PURPOSE built mental health care unit for teenagers will be officially opened on Thursday.

The Fairhaven Unit, in Winwick, is 5 Boroughs Partnership NHS Trust’s new project for those aged 14 to 18.

It provides assessment, intervention and in-patient treatment for patients and is the first youth unit to be built in the area.

The centre supports teenagers to try and intervene to prevent them needing admission to paediatric or adult acute wards.
