Robbers attack man in Croft home before stealing his car

DETECTIVES are hunting two men who attacked a man in his home before stealing the car off his drive in Croft yesterday afternoon.

The two men approached the rear of the house on Dam Lane just after 3pm with one of the robbers entering their 45-year-old victim’s home and assaulting him.

They then stole the keys to his car, a grey '09 Volkswagen Scirocco in which they fled in the direction of the M62.

The two robbers had arrived in a black Audi car, which also left in the same direction as the Scirocco, driven by one of the men.

Although not seriously injured the victim has been left in a state of shock.

Police have described the men as wearing dark sportswear type clothing and speaking with a Warrington accent.

The VW Scirocco was later in collision with another car near to junction nine of the M62 roundabout at Winwick but, undeterred, the Scirocco and Audi continued to travel toward Liverpool.
