Hundreds of people braved the rain to enjoy this year's Warrington Walking Day.
Among them were: Charlie Smith, Hull: “I’ve been coming for many, many years - more than forty! I’m originally from Warrington but now live in Hull. I’ve been coming back every year to play for the ‘Warrington Brass’ band.”
Bill Arnold, 48, Latchford: “I’m the drum major in the ‘Warrington Pipe’ band and have been for 31 years! We’re marching with St Stephens RC church today.”
Margaret Haughton, Latchford and Jack Taylor, 68, Paddington: “We’ve walked from Elmwood Avenue about a mile away and we’re marching with the Salvation Army. I’ve been taking part in the walk for 52 years.”
Jack: “I’ve been joining in every year for about 53 years!”
Helen Jones, 46, Latchford: “I come every year, ever since I used to walk in the parade as a child. I’m representing Our Lady’s RC church.”
Julie Johnson, 50, Stockton Heath: “I’ve been headteacher at Our Lady’s Catholic Primary for 10 years and we’ve taken part every year. The school has been doing it for much longer.”
Graeme Myall, Padgate: “I’m a piper in the band with St Augustine RC church. I first attended in 1952 and have been coming regularly ever since!”
