Bid to power home with wind turbine

SOARING electricity bills and a concern for the environment led one Woolston couple to seek out different ways to power their home.

BJ and Christine Howlett already have solar panels on their roof and now the couple has applied for planning permission to add a wind turbine to their home.

They want to create a home powered by renewable energy and believe installing a wind turbine to their Lincoln Close home will help them on their way to a greener existence.

“We have even joked about painting the turbine green,” said BJ.

The power generated by the turbine would fuel every one of the 100 lightbulbs in the Howlett’s house, 24 hours a day, seven days a week if it needed to, said BJ.

He is so sure that the turbines are almost completely silent that he has promised neighbours that if they can hear it, he will take it down.

But one neighbour has already objected to the plans, citing noise, visual intrusion and location.

A decision is due on February 3. The plans can be seen at warrington.gov.uk or at New Town House, Buttermarket Street, under the reference 2008/14001.

I wish this guy all the luck as he will need it. We here people complaining all the time about wasting energy and the goverment are trying to make us be more green aware and to "save the planet"

BUT

I cant see them letting him /us use these wind turbines as the big power companys will be loseing to much money if we all did this.

Ahhh wait watch out they will proberly make us all pay for a permit or something to use/own one so in the end there no cheaper than the big power companys to use.
