A MAN arrested in connection with the death of a baby girl in Orford has been told he will not face charges.
Following a joint paediatric post mortem examination conducted at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital by a Home Office pathologist earlier today (Friday) police are satisfied that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of the child.
The baby, who was born prematurely, was found dead at a house on Statham Avenue in Orford on Tuesday afternoon.
A police spokesman said: “There is no evidence whatsoever of any criminal activities surrounding the birth of this premature baby.
“Police will continue working with our partner agencies in supporting the immediate family through this tragic event.”
The 56–year–old man, who was initially questioned by police, has had his bail cancelled.
