A CAMPAIGN to encourage people to pledge never to commit domestic violence is being supported in Warrington.
Warrington Domestic Abuse Forum is inviting men and women to wear a white ribbon to challenge the acceptability of domestic abuse, encouraging a united front and helping all victims to break the silence and speak out against violence and abuse in the home.
Rachel Zammit, pictured, domestic violence strategic co-ordinator for the Safer Warrington Partnership, said: “Domestic abuse is everyone’s business and wearing a white ribbon demonstrates this.
“Warrington agencies are united in their determination to tackle the issue.
“A number of initiatives have been planned and both the public and professionals are encouraged to show their support to make sure that domestic abuse is not something that is quietly endured or ignored.”
Ann McElroy, unitary safety manager for Cheshire Fire Service, said: “Domestic abuse should not have to be tolerated by any individual and we all have a responsibility to send a clear message that it is not acceptable.”
White Ribbons will be available at the Cockhedge Centre on Saturday, November 29, and at a free Journey to Support event at The Gateway, Sankey Street, on Tuesday, December 9, from 1:30pm.
