A COUPLE is spreading the word of God through the airwaves of Warrington from their own home.

Matt Hill and Jen Hamner launched Salvation Radio, an Internet-based Christian radio station, which is broadcasting live from their Orford home’s second bedroom.

Jen said: “We were just praying one night and we had been watching TV and saw an atheist running a radio station. As we stopped praying I said why don’t we start our own?”

The couple stumped up their own cash to pay for the broadcasting equipment and Matt used his technical skills as a DJ at Chicago Rock Café to help set up the studio in their home.

And they hope to reach out to people across the town and get the residents of Warrington involved in the radio station’s output.

“We are going to be a community Christian station so we want as many people as possible to take part. We have been contacting churches in the area to take part,” added Jen.

The radio station will broadcast 24 hours a day with live broadcasting running during normal office hours.

It will include a mixture of live debate, sermons and Christian music ranging from rock, R&B and traditional Christian music.

If the online station proves a success then the couple hope they can expand and find business premises for their station, claiming back the bedroom.

They went live on the airways on Monday lunchtime.

If anyone would like to get involved in the radio station or would like to suggest ideas for sermons or shows they can e-mail info@salvationradio.co.uk
