UNSIGNED Warrington bands will have a dedicated event to showcase their talents from next week.
Fly Warrington is a new night set to be launched at WA1 on Legh Street in the town centre on Wednesday.
And not content with being a springboard for new talent, it is also providing an alternative night for those whose tastes aren’t catered for by the under 18s evening at Synergy.
Fly Warrington is the brainchild of Warrington duo Luke Jeffrey and Lee Smith, who run SJP Promotions.
“We want to give the kids who don’t want to go to Synergy something to do,” said Lee.
They launched Fly with the aim of scouting new talent and to try to put a stop to teenagers getting a bad reputation for hanging around the town centre.
They hope that by getting young people into WA1 and involved in live music they can help reduce the number of teens on the streets.
Warrington youth work team Phaze is also involved with organising the new event.
WA1 has been established as an alternative music scene bar in the town centre for years and frequently showcases local bands like LazyFader, Exile Parade and CityLights.
Doors to Wednesday night’s debut, exclusively for under 18s, open at 7pm and tickets are available through the White Hart pub.
Appearing on the night will be Columbus, Exile Parade, Petra and Jonny and the Bomb See myspace.com/flywarrington for more information.
