A TAKEAWAY that had flies in a dirty kitchen with no hot water or soap for staff to wash their hands has been given a zero out of five food hygiene rating.

Fu City at Greys Court in Kingsland Grange, Woolston, opened at the start of September.

But it failed to inform Warrington Borough Council and when environmental health officers inspected the restaurant on September 25 they discovering a catalogue of offences.

A letter sent to its owner Mr Lin Jen Mun on October 2 identified: l Flies in the kitchen and an open rear door which allowed easy access for pests l Dirty and damaged vinyl floor covering l Bare wood shelving that could not be adequately cleaned l No hot water supply to the two sinks and hand basin l No soap or hygienic hand drying facilities l A large hole in the toilet wall – big enough to allow access for rodents l A dirty toilet pan and toilet area The report says that two food handlers were not wearing suitable and clean over-clothing.

And boiled rice was left to cool at room temperature on the kitchen worktop overnight, which slows down the cooling process and provides ideal conditions for food poisoning bacteria to grow.

Alan Holt, principal environmental health officer, said: “The fact that they didn’t notify us as required by law and therefore ensured they were complying with the law was part and parcel of their problems.

“They are co-operating with us now and hopefully we will get it all resolved within the three week period.”

The Warrington Guardian tried to contact Fu City by telephone to see what it had to say about the report, but was unable to get any reply.
