DOCTORS believe most patients at their practices support plans to relocate to new clinics at Garven Place and Orford Park.
The Four Seasons Medical Centre and O’Leary Street practices may relocate to Orford Park, while the Eric Moore Partnership would open a branch surgery there while retaining its current site.
The Bewsey Street Medical Centre and Dr Alwan and Malpica at the Eric Moore Health Centre both want to move into the redeveloped Garven Place.
All practices sent questionnaires to patients and held roadshows with NHS Warrington to explain the possible moves.
Of the 461 responses to surgeries wanting to move to Orford Park, more than 80 per cent supported the move, but concerns about car parking and appointment systems were raised.
Similar concerns were lodged by 476 patients of those clinics that may move to Garven Place.
Patients were keen to see chemist and dentist services, X-rays, diabetic clinics and children’s services available. Extended hours were also highlighted as one of the changes patients want to see.
“We are not going to have polyclinics,” said John Gartside, the chairman of NHS Warrington at its monthly board meeting last Wednesday.
Funding for the developments is likely to be secured before Christmas.
