Car hits tree and is stranded in floods

FIVE emergency vehicles, including the air ambulance, raced to Burtonwood on Monday morning to rescue a stranded car.

A male in his early 20s was taken to hospital by land ambulance following the rescue.

His car had hit a tree and was in a flooded field off Phipps Lane and Broad Lane.

Fire crews had to cut the man free from his car.

Police were informed.
