Man bitten four times in neck in vicious attack

TWO thugs have been jailed after subjecting a man to a vicious attack outside his friend’s home.

Warrington Crown Court heard how Simeon Griffiths, known as Si, was working on his dad’s car at an address in Woolston on the evening of May 11 when Richard Szulc, a former friend and Stephen Donnelly got out of a taxi and walked towards him.

Szulc, aged 31, of Alder Crescent, Orford, approached the passenger side of the car where Mr Griffiths was sitting and Donnelly, aged 45, of Cowdell Street, Longford, went to the driver’s side.

Joanne Parsons, prosecuting, said: “Mr Griffiths covered his face and could feel his head going from side to side.

“Szulc threatened to slash his throat and made threats about his parents saying his mum would be attacked.

“At one point Donnelly grabbed his testicles and said he would pull them off. Hit bit him four times in the back of the neck before Mr Griffiths ran away.”

The two defendants were then arrested.

Following the incident the victim had to endure a series of hepatitis injections due to the bites he received.

When questioned Szulc told police that Mr Griffiths had stolen his car and sold it for scrap and admitted to shouting at the complainant.

Donnelly told police that he went to the driver’s door to try to sort the problem out and admitted punching him in the testicles.

David Ackerley, defending Szulc, said his client had known the victim for a long some time and said he was very upset when Mr Griffiths took his £200 vehicle and sold it as scrap.

He was already serving a 24-month community order for a common assault and was scheduled to attend a domestic violence programme.

Daniel Dennis, defending Donnelly, said his client was a family man with no previous convictions. He had two businesses, a furnishing company and Royal Mail courier business.

Judge David Hale sentenced the two defendants to four months in custody and said he reduced the time from eight months in the hope that Donnelly’s businesses would survive.

Speaking after the sentencing, Mr Griffiths, said: “I wasn’t very happy with the result. I was hoping they would get longer than four months.”
