Woman raped after getting into 'taxi'

A 24-year-old woman has been raped after getting into what she thought was a taxi.

Police say the woman was walking along the A6 in Hazel Grove in the early hours of Sunday morning when a small van pulled up beside her.

Believing it to be a private hire taxi, she got in and asked the driver to take her home.

However, the motorist drove a short distance along the A6 where he pulled over to the side of the road and raped her.

He then let her out of the vehicle, which is described as white with illuminous yellow and orange stripes, near Carpetright and drove off.

The offender is described as an Asian man with an Indian accent. He was in hs late twenties or early thirties and was wearing jeans and a grey or blue hooded jumper.
