RESIDENTS had a wasted journey when four planning applications were deferred in a farcical meeting of Warrington Borough Council’s development control committee last week.
The committee and around 20 members of the public gathered for the meeting at the Town Hall on Wednesday, only for the debate on each application to be put back to September 3 before it had even begun because site visits were deemed to be required.
The meeting – often taking several hours – lasted less than 15 minutes.
On the agenda was the proposed construction of living accommodation for disabled people with special needs in Delenty Drive, Birchwood.
The planning officers have initially recommended the application be refused because of the potential loss of two protected English oak trees on the site, with a site visit to take place on August 29.
Site visits will take place on the same day to a proposed single storey detached retail unit off at Chaise Meadow, off Calton Road, Lymm, as well as the proposed conversion of a building on Common Lane, Culcheth, to a hot food takeaway.
Those applications have initially been recommended for approval, as has one for a proposed replacement dwelling in Farnworth Road, Penketh.
