A PERVERT who snapped pictures and filmed videos up unsuspecting women’s skirts has been jailed.
Paul Morris was caught when a bystander saw him kneel next to a woman in Golden Square’s Waterstones store and hold his hand under her skirt.
When Morris pulled his hand away witness Hayden Jones saw he was holding a mobile phone.
Mr Jones asked the woman if she knew Morris before he went over to him and told him he had been caught out.
The father-of-two immediately began pushing buttons on his phone but Mr Jones grabbed it off him, Warrington Crown Court heard.
“Mr Jones ought to be commended for the outstanding vigilance he showed and spirit of public service,” said His Honour Judge Thomas Teague.
Morris was arrested and admitted to filming up his victim’s skirt. He also admitted to 22 further offences of the same nature.
He told police he noticed his victim and found her attractive and said he would have got sexual gratification from looking at the film, Joanne Parsons, prosecuting, told the court.
He had been doing the same for the previous four days in book shops and card shops across Warrington and Runcorn.
In 2005, Morris was convicted of outraging public decency for rubbing his penis through his trousers.
He was also convicted of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of children for exposing himself towards two young girls in a shop.
He is currently on the Sex Offenders’ Register.
Morris, aged 54, from Navigation Close, Murdishaw, Runcorn, was sentenced to four months in prison for four charges of outraging public decency.
His lawyer told the court Morris was remorseful and understood the impact of his actions on his family, himself and his victims.
One of his victims, a 29-year-old woman, said she was happy with the sentencing.
She added: “It was very upsetting to realise that he had been attempting to take a video up my skirt.
“Coupled with the humiliation of it happening in a busy shop with everybody looking at me once he had been caught out, I felt violated and angry that he felt it was acceptable to do this, not just to me, but 23 others.
“I am really grateful to Mr Jones for stepping in and preventing Morris from getting away with this and to Judge Teague for handing him a sentence that might make him think twice next time.”
