Fuel protests are back

FUEL price protesters will once again be hitting the roads to object at the level of fuel tax motorists must pay.

The convoy of campaigners will start out at Lymm Services at 9am this Saturday before heading along the M56 into Manchester city centre.

It is the second time in as many months that fuel protesters have hit the motorway network in Warrington. In June more than 100 vehicles including lorries, taxis and even an ice cream van protested at fuel tax Campaigners are unhappy about the level of tax levied on fuel and want the Government to lower fuel duty by the equivalent of the VAT on fuel, which they say would bring petrol down to £1 and diesel to £1.10 per litre.

The protest will cause delays on the surrounding roads towards Manchester Airport and for motorists heading along the M56 to Manchester.

Britain’s Revolting, the group behind the proposals, have been working closely with Greater Manchester Police to keep the protest legal.

im gald these people are doing this! i hope that next time thay do a protest, can we do it in the week to cause misery to thousands? i think and hope people will agree with me that i would be happy to cause mayhem on the roads for a couple of days if it means cheaper petrol! i think the farmers should do what they did in 2000 and blockade the oil refineries, that will get the goverments attention!
